How to sell art online for beginners
This blog post is the most controversial one because there's no perfect answer for everyone. Nowadays there are so many options to sell art online and to make money from your art. I'm gonna share a few options and tools that in my opinion can be successfully used for beginner artists.
Most of these websites don’t require any upfront payments.
Etsy and similar marketplaces
These kinda websites (there are so many of them now) dou’t require much work from you as an artist and these are pretty affordable. These websites offer you a marketplace to sell your work directly to customers and they have a huge audience already on the platform searching for things to buy. So you won't have to do much marketing yourself. In my opinion is a great option for beginners.
You can offer your art for sale directly on your Insta page in stories, reels and posts. You can also link your website of choice (Etsy for example) in your bio so people would know where to buy your work. Insta is also great because it works as a portfolio of your art and as a marketplace where you can market your art and then sell it through whatever option you prefer.
I know this is an old one, but stay with me. Facebook is still a great way to sell your art (to a specific audience, of course). Use your Facebook account to share about your art for sale, story behind it and all the details. You can also use Facebook groups to broaden your reach and show your art to more people.
Saatchi and similar art selling marketplaces
These websites are made specifically to sell art, unlike Etsy where people sell many different things. Personally I’m not a big fan of these websites. But as a beginner you might find these art selling platforms useful. They usually take % out of your commission, but it’s still a great way to get your art viewed by many people who may be interested in purchasing your work.
Your local websites
In your country or area there must be websites and marketplaces for artists to sell art online. Use these to sell your art locally or just to showcase your work.
